In order to maintain the integrity of the orchestra, whenever possible, senior ensemble (SYO) players are expected to participate in any travel project. If a player’s participation in a planned trip is uncertain at the beginning of the season, they are asked to notify the music director as soon as possible. Depending on financial resources, there may be an opportunity to receive travel cost assistance.

In recent seasons the SYO has travelled to Banff, Brandon, Winnipeg and Prince Albert for educational opportunities, and is planning a trip during the 2014-2015 season.
